AUGMENTED REALITY
Using phones to layer content and information over the real world has been possible for a long time . (Our first foray was inviting people to fight zombies across London for a Resident Evil game launch in 2013). It has finally entered the mainstream, however, with people using it for everything from real world gaming to trying on virtual trousers.

VR experiences on offer include immersive live-action video, rendered environments and full social VR experiences.
These each allow different levels of immersion, interaction and exploration, depending on what we are trying to do for (or to) our target audiences.

MIXED & HYPER REALITIES
Mixed reality is a blending of the virtual and real worlds, in which digital objects are aware of their environments and able to interact with them (Apple Vision Pro and Quest pass-through are the main examples to date).
Hyper-reality is where other elements are integrated to bring even more immersion – for example when we added real chains, smoke and heat to our immersive VR horror experiences for Vault Festival.

Avatars, virtual influencers and AI-driven NPCs – the divide between the real and the virtual, the human and the artificial is becoming ever more porous.
