Show and Tell

The charity teaches photography to help children take and share great photos, with the ultimate goal of boosting their mental health through creative expression.

We supported school and individual outreach and engagement as well as sharing the guidance from top pro photographers to a wider audience.

About one in six young people in the UK, and roughly 13% of young individuals worldwide, live with diagnosable mental health issues. At the same time, an astounding 1.4 trillion digital images are snapped each year, predominantly on mobile phones, constituting 90.9% of the total. But today’s shoot-and-share habits are negatively affecting our mental health.

Nevertheless, photography has shown efficacy in mitigating stress and anxiety.

photography for life, not likes

Born during the 2019 covid crisis, Show and Tell is the first and only youth-dedicated platform offering the chance to learn photography skills and support lifelong mental well-being.

We stepped in to upgrade their social media plan and managed their 2023 campaign. Our focus was on highlighting the skills and knowledge of the partner photographers (including Rankin) and then the creativity that this engendered in the children, particularly the importance of young people’s perspectives. We aimed to expand their reach to new audiences, emphasising how photography can help express even the toughest emotions.

There were more than 34,500 entries to the competition from 27 countries. More than that, the creativity and emotional expression shared was immeasurable.
